Maltese voice over recording services for your project
Maltese is the official language of Malta and one of the 24 official languages of the European Union. It is spoken by approximately 430,000 people as their mother tongue.
The Maltese language belongs to the Semitic languages within the Afro-Asian language family. It is the only Semitic language that uses Latin script. It originated from the Arabic dialect “Maghrebian” and uses many loan words from the languages Italian, Spanish, French and English. Due to Malta’s past as a British colony, English is another official language in Malta.
Despite the small number of Maltese speakers, mainly due to Malta’s small size, the language is still Malta’s number one everyday language. The recognition as an official language of the European Union contributes to the fact that an extinction of the language in the near future is not to be feared.
Compared to the Indo-European languages of Europe, Maltese has many differences in grammar. One of the characteristics of Maltese, for example, is the three-consonant system for verbs, which was adapted from Arabic. And there is also no infinitive, the basic form of a verb. However, the sentence structure differs from Arabic and follows the SVO schema (subject-verb-object) in Maltese, as for example in English, German or French.
We have already implemented projects in Maltese, including the recordings for educational videos for the European Commission.
Voice over recordings in Maltese are carried out in professional recording studios located in Malta. We work with native speakers who have a perfect command of the Maltese language and are trained professional voice talents.
