French for Belgium (Belgian French) is, along with Dutch and German, one of the official languages in Belgium. In Belgium, French is spoken by about 4 million native speakers, mainly in the Walloon Region and the Brussels Region.
Belgian French is a regional variant of the French language in Belgium and differs mainly in its accent from French, as it is spoken in France, and from Swiss French. There are a number of regional peculiarities concerning grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. The French used in Belgium can be characterized by various linguistic characteristics. Loan words from Dutch also found their way into French vocabulary. A further difference exists also in the naming of some numbers.
French belongs to the Romance group of the Italian branch of Indo-European languages and is therefore more closely related to Italian, Spanish, Occitan, Catalan, Portuguese, and Romanian. Like the other Romance languages, French has developed from the spoken Latin language, “Vulgar Latin”. In addition, numerous terms of Celtic origin have been preserved in French vocabulary.
We have already implemented several projects in French for Belgium, including the dubbing of various telephone-based patient survey systems, for example for the pharmaceutical companies ICON and Pfizer. For ICON we also realized the complete production of explanatory videos for a patient survey.
Voice over recordings in French for Belgium are carried out in professional recording studios located in Belgium. We work with native speakers who have a perfect command of the Belgian French language and are trained professional voice talents.
