Norwegian voice over recording services for your project
Norwegian, known as “Norsk” in Norwegian, is besides Sami, the official language of Norway and is spoken by about 5 million people as their mother tongue.
The Norwegian language belongs to the North Germanic languages within the Indo-European language family. There are many Danish, Swedish, but also Low German influences. The Norwegian of today has its origin in Old Norse, which was widespread at the time of the Vikings. Remnants of this language can be found in the Icelandic language, which was brought from Norway to Iceland by the Vikings.
The Norwegian written language has been standardized over time into four varieties. Two of them are now officially recognized: the book language “Bokmål”, which is written by almost 90% of the Norwegian population and mainly based on Danish, and “Nynorsk” (new Norwegian), which is mainly based on rural dialects and is written by about 10% of the population. However, there is no common pronunciation of the written languages in the Norwegian language.
The Norwegian language has numerous dialects which can be divided into 4 main groups: Northern Norwegian, Central Norwegian, Western Norwegian and Eastern Norwegian. Norwegian uses the Latin script with its own alphabet. There are four cases in Norwegian: nominative, genitive, dative and accusative. The sentence structure in Norwegian follows the SVO scheme (subject-verb-object), as for example in the English, German or French language.
Voice over recordings in Norwegian are carried out in professional recording studios located in Norway. We work with native speakers who have a perfect command of the Norwegian language and are trained professional voice talents.
