Urdu voice over recording services for your project
Urdu is the second official language in Pakistan alongside English, and in India it is one of the 22 officially recognized national languages and is spoken primarily in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Worldwide there are about 60-80 million Urdu native speakers. With second speakers, the number increases to 250 million. In Pakistan, about 14 million people speak Urdu as their mother tongue, which is about 7% of the total population. In India, over 50 million people speak Urdu as their mother tongue.
Like Hindi, Gujarati and Bengali, Urdu is an Indo-Aryan language and belongs to the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. Like Hindi, it developed from Sanskrit, but was also strongly influenced by the Persian language. In the course of time a mixed language developed, which consisted of Indian, Farsi, Arabic and Turkish words and which was finally called Urdu. For new word creations, Urdu uses Arabic and Persian words.
Urdu is written in Arabic-Persian script from right to left.
Urdu is a very “flowery” language that works with many paraphrases. For voice recordings, there is a danger that translations in Urdu may be much longer than the source text. This must be taken into account, especially with time-synchronous recordings. In some cases, shortening of the text may be necessary.
For cultural reasons, male speakers are often used in Urdu audio productions, even if the texts in the source media is spoken by a female voice talent.
We have already implemented many projects in Urdu, including voice recordings for educational videos and e-learnings; TV commercials for Roshan; web-based training courses (WBTs) for Sonic E-Learning; several telephone-based patient survey systems for the pharmaceutical company ICON ; voice over recordings for a documentary on the construction of the Makkah Royal Clock Tower in Mecca and many more.
Voice over recordings in Urdu are carried out in professional recording studios located in Pakistan or India. We work with native speakers who have a perfect command of the Urdu language and are trained professional voice talents.
