Yoruba voice over recording services for your project
Yoruba is the official language in Nigeria and Benin and a minority language in Togo. Yoruba is spoken by about 30 million people as their mother tongue.
Yoruba belongs to the yoruboid languages within the Niger-Congo language family. There are many loanwords from Arabic and Hausa, languages spoken in neighbor countries of Nigeria.
Yoruba knows 15 different dialects, which can be divided into 3 main groups: Northwest Yoruba, Central Yoruba and Southeast Yoruba. Yoruba uses the Latin script system and has its own alphabet. The standard Yoruba, which is also taught at schools and spoken on the news radio, is largely based on the Northwest Yoruba dialects Ibadan and Oyo.
Yoruba is also a tone language. In tone languages, the meaning of the word changes with a change of tone. Yoruba has three tones: high, medium and low. Standard Yoruba has seven oral and five nasal vocal phonemes. The sentence structure in Yoruba follows the SVO scheme (subject verb object), like for example also in English, German or Russian.
Voice over recordings in Yoruba are carried out in professional recording studios located in Nigeria. We work with native speakers who have a perfect command of the Yoruba language and are trained professional voice talents.
