Australian English voice over recording services for your project
English for Australia, also known as Australian English, is the official language in Australia and is spoken as the mother tongue by approximately 16 million people, representing 75% of Australia’s population.
Like British English, Australian English is one of the West Germanic languages within the Indo-European language family. Starting from England, the English language spread over the entire British Isles and has become a world language in Australia, Africa and India, mainly due to the colonization of America and the colonial policy of Great Britain. The language English was introduced by the colonization of Australia by England in the year 1770 and has developed there to an independent language variant of the English.
Australian English has many similarities with the New Zealand variety of the English language. Since Australia originally had many inhabitants coming from Ireland, the Australian English differs substantially in the pronunciation from the variant spoken in England. In contrast to British English, Australian English sounds more melodic and slightly nasal when pronounced and has the tendency to increase the emphasis at the end of the sentence. There are also some differences in the vocabulary, especially regarding loan words from the Aboriginal language, used by the Aboriginal people of Australia. The spelling in Australian English uses both, American and British English.
We have already implemented several projects in Australian English, including telephone-based patient survey systems for the pharmaceutical companies ICON and Pfizer.
